Se acabó la ilusión de Alejandro Tabilo en el US Open. El tenista chileno número 28 del mundo sucumbió ante el poderío de Alexander Zverev y se despidió en tercera ronda por los parciales de 6-2, 7-6 y 6-2 en dos horas y 27 minutos de juego.
En la primera manga el alemán sacó a relucir su buen tenis y demostró porqué está en la parte alta del ranking ATP. Dos quiebres al servicio de Tabilo fueron suficiente para quedarse con el set por 6-2 en 39 minutos.

En el segundo set se fueron palo y palo. Eso hasta que en el octavo juego, Tabilo le quebró a Zverev por primera vez en todo el partido. El chileno mostró su mejor tenis y tuvo para abrochar el set. Sin embargo, todo se estiro hasta el pie break.
En el mata-mata, el alemán sacó a relucir su mejor tenis. Además aprovechó los errores de Tabilo en la red y finalmente el tie break fue a su favor por 7-2 en una hora y ocho minutos.

En la tercera manga, Tabilo otra vez lideró el partido. Incluso sacó a relucir la peor faceta de Zverev, quien hasta lanzó su raqueta enojado por su mal rendimiento. Pese a ello, el alemán logró el quiebre en el octavo juego y con eso le alcanzó para cerrar el set por 6-2 en 40 minutos y avanzar en el Grand Slam.
Ahora al chileno solo le queda dar vuelta la página porque se vienen desafíos importantes. Entre el 18 y 20 de septiembre se disputará la ronda de Qualifiers de Copa Davis y Chile será local ante España. Por lo mismo, se ponen todas las fichas en Alejandro Tabilo como el primer singlista y ante el poderío europeo.
